How to Prepare for APPSC AEE Recruitment 2026

The APPSC AEE examination requires preparation across a common General Studies paper and the engineering papers prescribed for the candidate’s post code. A structured plan should begin with the official paper mapping, followed by systematic coverage of the technical syllabus and regular practice under timed conditions.

1. Identify the correct post code and paper combination

Before starting preparation, identify the post code relevant to your engineering qualification. Paper II is common Civil and Mechanical Engineering for most post codes, while post code 05 has Electrical Engineering. Paper III differs by post code, so use the official scheme to avoid preparing the wrong subject combination.

2. Break the engineering syllabus into manageable units

For Civil Engineering, organise the syllabus around building materials, structural analysis, steel and concrete design, construction management, hydraulics, water resources, environmental engineering, soil mechanics, foundations, surveying and transportation. For Mechanical Engineering, cover thermodynamics, heat transfer, refrigeration, turbomachines, theory of machines, machine design, manufacturing, materials, industrial engineering and modelling. Electrical candidates should plan for circuits, measurements, machines, power systems, protection and utilisation.

3. Keep Paper I in the weekly timetable

Paper I is common to every post code. Maintain a regular study routine for Andhra Pradesh-focused current affairs, history and geography, Indian polity, economy, science and technology, environment, disaster management, reasoning and data analysis.

4. Practise numerical and conceptual questions

Engineering preparation should combine conceptual clarity with numerical application. After completing each topic, practise questions that test definitions, assumptions, formula selection, calculations, diagrams and engineering interpretation.

5. Take full-length timed mock tests

Each written paper has 150 questions and a 150-minute duration. Practising within the same time limit helps improve question selection, speed and accuracy. Review incorrect responses and identify whether the cause was a concept gap, calculation error or misinterpretation.

6. Account for negative marking

One-third of the marks allotted to a question is deducted for a wrong answer. Avoid random attempts. Develop a strategy that balances accuracy and time, and revisit weak topics identified through mock-test analysis.

7. Prepare for the CPT alongside the written examination

Set aside practice time for word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, file management and basic computer concepts. Since the CPT is practical in nature, hands-on practice is important. Pay particular attention to document formatting, Excel formulas and charts, PowerPoint slides and typing speed.

Strengthen Your Engineering Exam Preparation

Use a syllabus-led preparation plan that combines concept learning, technical practice, revision and mock-test analysis for the relevant engineering discipline.
